Reviews

From the Parents

This camp was amazing for my child. She learned many new things about the medical field and she enjoyed the various activities. Thank you for making this learning experience fun and enjoyable.

My child said she loved the camp and you guys taught and engaged her well.

Absolutely loved it, got introduced to what it takes to be a doctor. She would look forward to her next class and even made me let her join the class from the mall because she would not miss this class.

You kids outdid yourselves and were extremely professional. In my personal opinion, you guys were better than varsity instructors. Never a lag, professional timely emails, and simplified explanations on topics made this camp very successful.

I really liked this camp because I got to meet new people and learn new things about the medical field. I really enjoyed the different lessons and I enjoyed learning CPR. Thank you instructors for making this summer amazing!

I really loved the camp, there were so many activities and games but at the same time, I was learning.

I loved your sessions! My favorite part was the CPR demo and the DIY first aid kit.

About Us

Instructors

Fun fact! All of our instructors are rising seniors in the Academy of Health and Medical Sciences!

Naimisha Vidavalapati

Naimisha Vidavalapati has a profound interest in health and medicine and wishes to go onto a pre-med track after high school. She proposed a pre-med summer camp for children because she believes they are our future, and we need to expose kids to the ever-expanding and rewarding field of medicine at a young age. She has much experience working with kids via tutoring and volunteering for a special needs kids' dance program and hopes that through this camp, kids will develop the same passion for medicine that she has.

Michelle Wilfred

Michelle Wilfred has always been actively immersed and interested in the medical field. She remembers how important knowledge about the medical profession was when it came to deciding on a future career. Michelle wants to teach this summer camp to help expose students to medicine at a young age. She has experience with children through volunteering at the youth group in her church and babysitting.

Rayhanah Ahmed

Rayhanah Ahmed is interested in a career in medicine, preferably working as a Physician Assistant. Her experience as a swim instructor has granted her the opportunity to work with kids of all ages and backgrounds, helping them master various swim techniques and skills. She hopes to introduce the world of medical professions to a younger audience to help them gain a broader scope of what it means to help others.

Melissa Lam

Melissa Lam is interested in biology and forensic science. She has gained experience working with kids as a babysitter and a tutor for students in kindergarten to 6th grade at her local library. Melissa believes that there is a necessity for passionate nurses and doctors who want to serve those in need. She hopes that through this program, she will be able to meet many such people and engage them educationally in the field of medicine.

Vinitha Vivek

Vinitha Vivek is interested in genetics, cognitive science, and developmental psychology. She has experience with tutoring middle school students and has been volunteering at Brookdale Senior Center for four years. Many students today are not taught in school what different types of doctors do and she believes this knowledge is crucial for our youth. Vinitha has joined this team to engage with and teach students the rudimentary aspects of healthcare professions.

Our Mission

Our mission is to teach young students (ages 5-12) about medical professions and understand the different skills/basic knowledge needed to be in the medical field. We go through the basics of what it means to have a career in medicine, rather than the textbook curriculum.

The STAMP Curriculum

STAMP will be taking place in August 2020. We will hold two sessions every Tuesday and Friday, one for students who have completed kindergarten up to second grade (between the ages 5-8) at 11:00 am and one for students who have completed third grade up to sixth grade (between the ages 9-12) at 3:00 pm.

Lesson 2: Medical Terminology
We teach and discuss basic medical terminology, and perform a mock physical examination using the terms taught (by performing a skit). Students will follow along with their own stuff animals or dolls or action figures and we will play a virtual game.
